Republic Tigers Football 2004

Tigers place third in the state tournament!

The (5-4) Tigers defeated (8-0) Waterville in Wenatchee on November 12 by a score of 19-14 and then defeated (9-2) La Salle in Yakima on November 20 by a score of 40-28. The Tigers played a great first quarter and kept close to DeSales. Two scores in the closing minutes of the first half changed the complexion of the game and DeSales went on to win 48-7. The RHS Tigers placed third in state after finishing fourth in the toughest league in B-11. Way to go guys!

The last time Republic advanced to the semi-final game, it was against DeSales at Joe Albi Stadium a week after "Ice Storm" in Spokane in 1996. That year DeSales pulled off a late touchdown to win the game and advance to the title game. Republic placed third that year and DeSales went on to lose a close state title game to Willapa Valley 20-27. Later that school year, the RHS Boy's Basketball team went on to win the state "B" Title.

The Republic Tigers home field

The Republic football team finished 3rd in state in the semi finals in 1996. The Tigers lost that game to Desales on a 4th quarter touchdown pass . DeSales went on to lose a close state title game to Willapa Valley 20-27.

The most memorable playoff game that we've had in the last ten years was in 1996 when we beat Mabton forty seven to zero with six inches of fresh snow that fell before we played.
